Throughout 20+ years in sales and marketing I made a practice of setting aside the first hour of almost every morning to write a bit. Just for fun. A short story, a poem, an essay or at least a few notes about what’s going on in my world. Writing wakes me up and gets me into the higher gears without breaking anything.
I still do this at Pineapple Hill.
Except for one strange difference. These days, my thirty minute blogging sessions tee me up for four or five hours of work as a novelist.
That’s correct: I write to warm up for more writing.
A good habit made dangerous by posting online for all the world to see.
